Totally Love Steampunk!

Journal Entry: Tue Aug 7, 2012, 2:46 AM
Who knew?

I have discovered something new, and I LIKE it!

OK.. So it is only new to me, but that is all that matters here. This is MY journal, after all.

I mean, what's not to like? I get to wear fancy period dress and yet also flash some leg if I wish. PLUS, be a smart and intelligent Female!!!

Love that! Ahh.. A time when a Lady can be a lady, a tramp, and a brilliant intellectual, all at the same time! Even a Mistress of the Darker Arts, if she is so inclined.

Sort of like now, only with better clothes and less pollution. LMAO

Of course, I seem to be in a not so Steampunk friendly area. I think there was a convention in Colorado once..a few years back, in another town.

REGROUP!!!
damn...

  • Mood: Awestruck

  • Playing: the fool
  • Eating: nothing
  • Drinking: ..Not yet!

LESS pollution? Do you have any idea what the skies over London looked like in 1888?

:giggle:

I run an occasional game for my nephew and neices called "Space: 1889". The game actually predates the steampunk genre, yet it's the founding example with stories and characters out of Verne, Wells, etc. :D

Yeah, yeah.. I do remember the skies. But lets face it, this is a genre that is supposed to be of a more elevated mind set. Remember that women were still considered owned property in our 1800's, yet in Steampunk, we are allowed to have a brain. Obviously Steampunk existed in an alternate reality, and they were very pollution concious as well.
So say I, and that is all that matters. MY journal! LMAO

Ohh.. I will have to look into that! Thank you! The title alone makes it worth looking into.
Ummm.. Do you think it came in a book version?

Welllll.. the game was in book form AND they did wind up writing a few novels based on it... [link]

And the game VERY much encourages the female with a brain characters, including "Adventuress" (Women only), theif, spy and aristocratic characters (My neice is a scientist-inventor with a prediliction for explosives...) Additionally, there are real-life and fictional historical examples of actual notable women from the late 1800's, which started my researches into the history of real female adventurers and explorers of the period. :)

Steampunk is pretty cool! There's also Raygun Gothic, which is another anachronistic style. You might like it.

Thank you!! I will. It sounds wonderful.
I like ray guns. Less mess, in my opinion.
